Para a análise da postura dinâmica foi realizado o teste Time Up & Go. PURPOSE: The aim of this investigation was to study the effect of a water aerobic program in body posture. 128 adult, female, with ages ranging between 25 and 87 years old were divided into control group (CG, N = 43) and experimental group (GE = 85) and studied throughout 12 consecutive weeks. Each subject had a frequency of participation of two lessons per week. Before and after the program, measurements were made of static posture, dynamic posture and functional posture. METHODS: The static posture was obtained based on several tests: Leg Support, Romberg test, the Functional Reach test and Photogrammetric Evaluation. The dynamic posture was analysed using the Time Up & Go test. For functional posture was performed a functional test, including the Berg Scale. RESULTS: The intervention program did not induced changes in the static posture when evaluated by Romberg test (feet parallel variant) and Photogrammetry. On the contrary, while using the Romberg test (semi-tandem and tandem variant), Leg Support and Functional Reach, the static posture demonstrated higher values in the post-test. There was also a significant interaction between the time and the group in the variant tandem Romberg test. The dynamic posture also demonstrated significant changes in Time Up & Go test, and there was a significant effect of time, exceeding in pre-test, and a significant effect of group, being higher in the GC. Regarding the functional posture, there was a significant effect of time, being superior in the post-test Scale Berg. CONCLUSIONS: 12 weeks of water aerobic exercise program showed to be an appropriated method to induce significant improvements in the posture of sedentary women. The effects were most visible both in the Static Posture, and at the level of Functional and Dynamic Posture.
