O aumento do consumo de água engarrafada é uma realidade a nível mundial, o que está intimamente relacionado com as alterações de vida que têm ocorrido nas últimas décadas. Também em Portugal se tem verificado um aumento no consumo, mas não existem estudos que tentem explicar os fundamentos por detrás desta realidade. Nesta pesquisa exploratória procura-se conseguir uma base de informações que permita direccionar investigações futuras, recorrendo a entrevistas de grupo (focus group) e efectuando a análise dos resultados por análise de conteúdo. Os dados obtidos vão no sentido de que existem algumas opiniões bem estabelecidas em relação à razão principal pela qual se bebe água, mas para além de matar a sede, hoje em dia o consumo de água engarrafada surge associado ao convívio social de forma bastante marcante. O critério preço Como determinante Na decisão de compra de água engarrafada no supermercado, é outro aspecto comum à maioria dos entrevistados. - ABSTRACT; the increase of bottled water drinking is a fact in the entire world, which is intimately connected with all the changes in life style that had occurred in the last decades. Also in Portugal the increase is a reality, but there are not studies to explain what is behind this tendency. This exploratory study pretends getting information that will allow to direct further investigations, it used focus group interview to get the data and content analysis to analyse them. The obtained data indicates that, the reason why people drink water in the first place is to not having thirst, but drinking bottled water appears connected to social meetings. The price is the major factor that influences people in the supermarket.
