Schizophrenia affects 1% of the world's population and has a huge functional impairment in individuals, which interferes with their ability to meet the demands of life. Some studies have shown that physical activity (PH) benefits them by improving their quality of life (QOL) functional capacity (FC). In relation to this, the present study had the goal to evaluation FC for exercise in individuals with schizophrenia living in the Brazilian community attended by the Center for Psychosocial Attention - CAPS. Methods: the Six-Minute Walk Test (6MWT) was used to evaluate the CF for the exercise, the physical activity level (AF) of the individuals the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ-SF) was used, the QOL (WHOQOL-Bref) and a questionnaire to evaluate sociodemographic variables, the study were conducted in the States of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina-Brazil, all participants gave their consent form. The sample was selected based on the schizophrenia diagnosis. Twenty-four men and nine women (M = 42.73 years, SD = 12.36 years) were selected, and the original protocols of the tests were followed. Results: demonstrated that individuals with better environmental dominance have a higher practice of moderate PA. Conclusions: the findings suggested that the tests are well tolerated and can be used in individuals with schizophrenia. The environment where the individual livesis a contributing factor to a more active lifestyle.
