Description

The actual re-regulation phenomenon has been changing the power systems paradigms in exploration, management, and control. In the next few years new changes will be seen due to the advent of small dispersed generation. In this sense, the goals of this thesis are to analyse the influence of dispersed generation in energy distribution networks, to determine the optimal distributed generation allocation in distribution networks and to build a simulation platform to simulate different energy production market regulations, as well as, their impact in the voltage profiles, power losses, and branches congestion. Different networks types (High Voltage, Rural Medium Voltage, Semi-Urban Medium Voltage, and Urban Medium Voltage) were simulated in different exploration scenarios (Summer, Winter, Valley, Peak and In Between Hours) and also considering different power factors. The dispersed generation impact is evaluated through the alterations provoked in voltage profiles, power losses, and branches congestion. To simulate the optimal distributed generation allocation in distribution networks we consider different location scenarios (near, far, random 1, and random 2).
