This dissertation is a review about the relevance of all the Grand Travaux parisians on the social and cultural affirmation in Paris and in the French expression. In this analysis we can understand that a Cultural policy was emerging after World War II. Meanwhile, the primary focus in this investigation it will be essentially in the gap between 1981 and 1985 when Mitterrand was the President of France. A better way to understand all the intentions and ambitions of this period, it will be described with other examples that occurred in Europe in the XX century. In this dissertation we can understand what makes people rise all kind of buildings, why they made it and the meaning of the constructions. These buildings can reveal about their symbolism in the society that they belong. I also try to understand all the different goals and intimate wills, concerning all the constructions works and referring to all the questions concerning the procedures. It will be presented a description about all the procedures of each project so I can shape a general point of view about this intense period of constructions that Mitterrand implemented, in order to enhance the culture access for everyone. The intention of this investigation is to prove that Culture was an excuse so that Mitterrand could express his political power on a democratic way. In order to do so, it will be described several case studies, all of them located in Paris. The Grand Louvre (1983-1993), the Arche de La Défense (1983-1989), the Institut du Monde Arabe (1983-1987), the parc de La Villette (1982-1992), the Ministère des Finances (1984-1988), the Opéra de la Bastille (1985-1989) and the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (1990-1995).
