Trabalho final de Mestrado para a obtenção do grau de mestre em Engenharia Civil
Numa primeira fase, estre trabalho apresenta um enquadramento sobre o tema da sismicidade no mundo e em Portugal analisando a sismicidade histórica relevante no território nacional português, a sismicidade instrumental e o tema da prevenção sísmica. Além dos assuntos referidos anteriormente, é feita uma descrição da evolução da cidade de Lisboa até ao início do século XX e dos sistemas estruturais que povoam Lisboa. Posteriormente são enumeradas quais as maiores vu lnerabilidades do ponto de vista sísmico dos vários sistemas estruturais estudados neste trabalho e quais as melhores soluções com vista a mitigar tais vulnerabilidades. Finalmente, é feita uma abordagem à definição da acção sísmica e como é que esta é incorporada na análise estrutural de um edifício, quais as várias abordagens regulamentares que existem em Portugal e como se processa a verificaç ão da segurança. Em termos de reforço sísmico, são descritas as soluções e técnicas de reforço mais comuns tantoao nível global como ao nível local das estruturas. Além disso, são também descritos quais os objectivos e quais as metodologias a considerar aquando a reabilitação de um edifício. Para mostrar alguns dos aspectos antes referidos é analisado, no âmbito desta dissertação, um edifício que foi edificado numa época em que não existiam regulamentos para projectar estruturas resistentes aos sismos. Por esta razão, os edifícios des sa época são muito vulneráveis em termos sísmicos - vulnerabilidade essa que poderá ter sido agravada por intervenções de reabilitação não controladas a que o edifício tenha sido sujeito que, geralmente, não incluem obras de reforço sísmico. O edifício em análise neste trabalho trata-se do Teatro Luís de Camões, para o qual se apresenta uma avaliação do comportamento estrutural recorrendo a um modelo numérico tridimensional desenvolvido no programa de cálculo automático SAP2000. A definição das propriedades geométricas dos elementos que constituem a estrutura foi feita através do Projecto de Execução elaborado pela FTD, Consultores de Engenharia, Lda. Relativamente às características mecânicas dos materiais e às acções estáticas e dinâmicas foi consultada a literatura da especialidade. Este trabalho termina com a apresentação de um conjun to de medidas de reforço que foram propostas com base no que foi estudado na literatura da especialidade e pensando no caso concreto do edifício em análise.
Abstract: As a first step, this paper presents a framework on the topic of seismicity in the world and in Portugal by analysing historical seismicity in Portuguese national territory and instrumental seismicity, and the topic of seismic prev ention. Besides these matters, a description is provided of the evolution of the city of Lisbon until the beginning of the 20th century and of the structural systems that populate Lisbon. Next, the biggest vulnerabilities from the point of view of the seismic structural systems studied in this work are listed, as are the best solutions to mitigate such vulnerabilities. Lastly, an approach is made to the definition of seismic action and how it is incorporated into structural analysis of a building, of the various regulatory approaches that exist in Portugal and of how the safety verification is performed. In terms of seismic reinforcement, a description is provided of the more common reinforcement solutions and techniques both overall and at the local level of the structures. There is also a description of the objectives and which methodologies to be considered during the rehabilitation of a building. To show some of the aspects referred to earlier, a building is analysed within the scope of this dissertation that was built at a time when there were no regulations governing the design of earthquake-resistant structures. For this reason, buildings of this era are very vulnerable in seismic terms – a vulnerability that may have been further aggravated by uncontrolled rehabilitation work that often does not include seismic-reinforcement work. The building under consideration in this work is the Luís de Camões theatre, for which an assessment is presented of its structural behaviour using a three-dimensional numerical model developed using the SAP2000 automatic calculation program. The geometric properties of the elements of the structure were defined using the Execution Project prepared by FTD, Consultores de Engenharia, Lda. Specialised literature was consulted in respect of the mechanical properties of the materials and of the static and dynamic actions. This work ends with a presentation of a set of reinforcement measures that were proposed on the basis of the study of specialty literature, with the specific case of the building under analysis in mind.
