Have young fathers different conceptions and attitudes towards fatherhood? Do young fathers really wish to intervene in children education, in a context of emotional involvement? How do they reconciliate fatherhood experience with their professional career and conjugal relationship? Are young fathers striving for a situation of equality in comparison with young mothers, concerning the assistance and take care of their children? The results obtained in the research “Searching for young/new fathers: conceptions and attitudes towards fatherhood” presented in this working paper, indicate that we are facing a new way of living fatherhood that is more effective and affective. In this way, young fathers show a will of being present and follow his child’s growing, developing an emotional link with them. But even with this regularity, we can observe certain specificities, proceeding from distinct socio-economical positions and ages, that indicates the existence of distinct ways of living fatherhood.
