Description
The offence of driving while impaired by alcohol is a problem that creates a huge social alarm and has been object of many investigations but, normally, the relating study is only made with statistic research. In another level of analyses, the present study of the phenomena, with a phenomenological perspective, gives voice to the social actors of that behaviour and seeks to reveal essential data about the deviant pathways of those individuals.By adopting the life story as methodological instrument, with the realization of qualitative interviews has been possible to identify the existence of three deviant trajectories which can reach different stages. The first trajectory has been named regular consumption and includes a group of research participants socially well integrated who drink small quantities of alcohol on a daily basis. The second trajectory, of intermittent consumption, includes the occasional drinkers younger individuals with an instable familiar context , who swallow alcohol for their entertainment and pleasure. At last, the trajectory of secondary consumption is connected with the life course of the individual's primary identified and labelled as «delinquents», because they also commit other different crimes, beside driving while intoxicated.
