The propaganda poster of Estado Novo shows a regime of reforms, discipline and authority, saving,stability and avant-gard spirit. SNI/SPN finds in António Ferro’s «Política do Espírito» its propaganda basis in the formulation of concepts, combining the interest of State with the Portuguese modernist’s creativity. Stuart Carvalhais, Almada Negreiros, Botelho, Fred Kradolfer, Paulo (Ferreira) and Martins Barata, where the most important intervinients in the enrichment of an aesthetic and functional language of the poster in the thirties. In the perspective of creating a Portuguese style of the forties, the resulting values of Modern Art were assimilated with more popular elements, culminating in the triumphal and great Portuguese World Exposition in 1940
