The aim of the present investigation is to analyze the impact of the process of relocation in the Perception of Sense of Community and Perceived Social Support. The chosen sample was constituted by 104 adults that live in Alta de Lisboa, and that were former residents of the neighbourhoods covered by the Special Plan of Relocation. The perception of sense of community was measured through the Brief Sense of Community Scale (EBSC; Peterson, Speer & McMillan, 2008; adapted by Marante, in press) and perceived social support was assessed through the Scale of Social Provisions (SSP; Cutrona & Russel, 1987; adapted by Moreira & Canaipa, 2007). The variables were assessed before the relocation process, retrospectively, by adapting the scales, and also after it, regarding the present time. The results indicated that the Perception of Sense of Community and Perceived Social Support differ significantly before and after the relocation, being higher in the former. The analysis also allowed observing a positive correlation between the two variables, as well as correlations between Perceived Social Support and the variables Age, Schooling, Number of Children and Participation in Neighbourhood Activities.
