A presente investigação de caracter exploratório, alicerçada no domínio da Psicologia da Família, tem por objetivo explorar e analisar as crenças sobre o conflito conjugal e o modo como este é vivenciado por indivíduos em situação de conjugalidade (casamento ou coabitação conjugal). As narrativas serão analisadas, tendo em conta a conotação do conflito, os fatores protetores e instigadores, as consequências do conflito, a responsabilidade pessoal pelos conflitos, a posição estratégica relativa ao conflito, os principais temas de conflito e as estratégias utilizadas para os solucionar. Seguindo o paradigma construcionista e uma abordagem qualitativa, a investigação foi realizada com uma amostra de doze participantes, dos quais sete eram do sexo feminino e cinco do sexo masculino, casados ou em coabitação. Aos participantes foi aplicado um questionário sociodemográfico e realizada uma entrevista semiestruturada, sendo os dados analisados, posteriormente, com recurso ao software QSR NVIVO. Os principais resultados obtidos mostram a inevitabilidade dos conflitos, que estes são conotados no sentido positivo e com funções importantes ao nível da relação conjugal. As conotações negativas estão essencialmente relacionadas com a não resolução dos conflitos e com as consequências negativas dos mesmos. A relação do casal emerge como fundamental quer ao nível dos fatores protetores, quer ao nível dos fatores instigadores de conflito. Os principais temas estão relacionados com decisões e questões materiais. Os casais utilizam maioritariamente estratégias ativas e construtivas para a resolução de conflitos. São ainda discutidas as implicações dos resultados do estudo, bem como as limitações do mesmo.
The current research of exploratory nature, grounded on the Family Psychology domain, has as objective to explore and to analyze the marital conflict believes and the way that this is lived by the individuals in conjugal situations (marriage or conjugal cohabitation). The narratives will be analyzed taking into account the conflict connotation, the instigator and protective factors, the conflict consequences, the personal responsibility of conflict, the strategic position relative to conflict, the main conflict themes and the strategies utilized to solve them. Following the constructionist paradigm and a qualitative approach, the research was realized with a sample of twelve participants, from which seven were females and five were masculine, married or in cohabitation. A sociodemographic questionnaire was applied to the participants and it was realized a semi-structured interview, afterwards the data was analyzed using the QSR NVIVO software. The main achieved results show the conflict inevitability, which are connoted in the positive sense and with important functions at the level of marital relationship. The negative connotations are essentially related with the non-resolution of the conflict and with its negative consequences. The couple’s relationship emerges as crucial both in terms of protective factors and conflict instigators. The main themes are associated with decisions and material questions. The couples use mostly active and constructive strategies in order to solve conflicts. Lastly it is discussed the implications of the study outcomes, as well its limitations.
