Description
The first chapter shows how the notion of description' is crucial to the very intelligibility of notions such as action', person' and identity', following clues by Elizabeth Anscombe and Alasdair MacIntyre. Description' is presented as having a teleological and truth-related nature. In the second chapter, this position is confronted with Sigmund Freud's and Richard Rorty's perspectives, specifically with the way in which these thinkers understand the description of things and people, a way in which concepts like telos' and truth' are nothing but obstacles to logical discussion. The third chapter argues that the previous considerations clarify some key features of the relationship between literature and literary critic, and moral philosophy.
