O estágio realizado na Escola Manuel Cargaleiro representou um desafio extremamente importante. Esta instituição escolar, apresenta boas infra-estruturas físicas, uma equipa de docentes organizada e coerente no esforço constante de responder às necessidades da sociedade. A turma do 10º ano de escolaridade é considerada boa, os resultados quantitativos foram satisfatórios e a participação em sala de aula decorreu de forma construtiva e ordeira. Ao longo do processo de aprendizagem não aconteceu qualquer incidente negativo entre os alunos nem qualquer desobediência face às exigências requeridas pelos docentes, a conclusão final é positiva. A necessidade de leccionar a unidade temática no prazo previsto para tal, não tornou possível concretizar a metodologia sobre a qual recai a reflexão da segunda parte do relatório da tese do mestrado. A primeira parte do relatório da tese do mestrado não se limitou à descrição do estágio vai mais além, desenvolve um trabalho de reflexão sobre uma metodologia que procura assumir de forma articulada e coerente o conceito estruturante de todo o trabalho: o respeito pela vida humana e não humana. É seguindo esta linha de orientação, que aparecem os resultados obtidos pelos alunos a partir do teste de diagnóstico com o objectivo claro de os envolver na temática de estudo, ao mesmo tempo que funcionam como uma metodologia que vai ao encontro de uma ética prática, tendo como referência a abordagem desenvolvida por Peter Singer, segundo o qual não existe ética se as ideias preconizadas não tiveram aplicação prática. A temática da Responsabilidade Ecológica, incide sobre a consciência de que os recursos naturais são limitados, de que a Terra é a única possibilidade da vida humana e não humana. Os direitos dos animais ainda levantam muitas resistências, há quem não aceite que os animais têm valor intrínseco. Como poderemos afirmar que só os seres humanos têm a razão, a inteligência ou a autonomia? É fundamental levar em conta os interesses dos animais da mesma maneira que os interesses dos seres humanos. Assim, temos de reflectir imparcialmente no bem-estar de todos os seres sencientes, seja qual for a sua espécie e para isso precisamos de aprender a cuidar do nosso bem-estar sem fazermos sofrer os animais não humanos. A análise e interpretação dos textos dos alunos permitiu desenvolver a reflexão crítica sobre os aspectos que nos aproximam e afastam dos vários animais com quem partilhamos o Planeta Terra. As ideias redigidas pelos alunos revelam uma sensibilidade ecológica muito apurada e um sentido crítico curioso e construtivo. A imagem dos animais não humanos, aparecem envoltas numa teia de conceitos ainda frágeis, mas já denotam uma outra perspectiva de os entender e posicionar na esfera de respeito que merecem. No geral, o sentido de cidadania ainda precisa de se clarificar e desenvolver consistentemente, mas representam partículas de evolução qualitativa numa existência mais amiga da natureza e da vida animal.
The practicum teaching took place in Escola Manuel Cargaleiro, and it reprented an important challenge. This school has good infra – structures, an organized and coherent group of teachers, who is constantly trying to respond to society`s needs. The Year 10 class is considered a good class, with satisfactory results and their class participation were organized and constructive. Throughout the learning process, no negative incidents happened, hence the final conclusion can only be positive. The need to teach a thematic unit in a foreseeable time, it was impossible to use the methodology upon which the reflex ion second part of the thesis of the Masters is about. The first part of the Masters report was not just limited to the description of the Practicum, it went beyond that, it developed a reflexion on a methodology whose intention is articulated and coherent in the structuring concept of the thesis: the respect for human and non human life. It is in this line of thought, that the result obtained by the students in the diagnostic test, with the clear aim of involving them in the theme of the study whilst functioning as a methodology which aims at a practical ethics, having as a reference the approach developed by Peter Singer, according to whom there is no ethics if the ideas advocated have no practical application. The theme of Ecological Responsibility focuses on the conscience that the natural resources are limited, that Earth is the only possibility for human and non human life. Animal Rights, still face some resistance, there are those who do not accept that animals have intrinsic value. How can we state that only humans have reasoning, intelligence or autonomy? It is fundamental to take into account animal interests the same way we take into account the interests of human beings. Therefore we must reflect, impartially, at the well-being of all sentient beings. Whatever their species and that is why we need to learn how to take care of our well-being without harming non human animals. The analyses and interpretation of the students texts, allowed a critical reflexion on the aspects that make us closer or distance us from the various animals with whom we share Planet Earth. The students ideas reveal a very acute ecological sensibility and a curious and constructive critical sense. The image of non human animals, appears still enveloped in very vague and fragile concepts, nonetheless demonstrates another perspective of understanding and positioning them in the sphere of respect that they deserve. As a whole, sense of citizenship still needs to be consistently clarified and developed, but it represents a qualitative evolution towards a more friendly existence of nature and animal life.
