O envolvimento dos pais na escola : um estudo com pais-professores no 1º ciclo do ensino básico

A relação escola-família e o envolvimento dos pais na vida escolar dos seus filhos são a base de estruturação e construção desta dissertação. O principal objetivo desta investigação consistiu em estudar a relação existente entre a profissão dos pais e o envolvimento que estes têm com a escola. Pretendeu-se, especificamente, perceber como é a relação estabelecida com a escola quando os pais são professores de profissão, comparativamente a pais não professores, ou seja, saber como a profissão se reflete no envolvimento parental nas dimensões de crenças, comunicação, tomada de decisões, voluntariado e formação, na relação pais-escola no 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico. Também se constituiu uma finalidade deste estudo, compreender qual a perspetiva dos professores do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico relativamente ao envolvimento dos pais com a escola, em particular, os que são professores. Esta investigação contou com a participação de 45 pais, que responderam a um inquérito por questionário, posteriormente alvo de tratamento estatístico e de análise de conteúdo, e 10 professores do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico que responderam a uma entrevista com questões estruturadas, a qual foi igualmente analisada através de análise de conteúdo. Os resultados da investigação sugerem que não existem diferenças acentuadas entre o envolvimento dos Pais-Professores e os restantes pais com a escola. Porém, foi possível constatar que a conceção que os professores têm do envolvimento parental é distinta da vivenciada no dia a dia pelos pais. Após a apresentação do estudo realizado e respetivas conclusões, serão incluídas limitações e algumas questões para reflexão que poderão constituir pontos de partida para posteriores investigações.

The school-family relationship and parental involvement in the school life of their children are the basis of structure and construction of this dissertation. The main objective of this research was to study the relationship between parental occupation and involvement that they have with the school. It was intended to specifically understand how the relationship established with the school, when parents are teachers by profession, compared to parents not teachers, how the profession is reflected in parental involvement in the dimensions of beliefs, communication, decision making, volunteering and training for parents-school on the first cycle of basic education. Also one purpose of this study was to understand which is the prospective of teachers of the 1st cycle of basic education in relation to parental involvement with the school, particularly those who are teachers. This investigation included the participation of 45 parents, who responded to a survey, subsequently targeted by statistical treatment and content analysis, and 10 teachers of the first cycle of basic education who responded to an interview with structured questions, which was also assessed through content analysis. The research results suggest that there aren’t accented differences between the involvement of the Parent-Teachers and the other parents with the school. However it was found that the design that teachers have of parental involvement is distinct from that experienced in daily by the parents. After the presentation of the study and their conclusions, limitations will be included and some questions for reflection that can be starting points for further investigations.
