A questão do colonialismo no pensamento de Eduardo Lourenço

O Colonialismo tem vindo a ser descoberto e revelado na obra de Eduardo Lourenço, sobretudo, através da reflexão política. Neste texto, que serve como dissertação de Mestrado em Estudos Portugueses, temos como objectivo centrar toda a problemática política e ideológica que configura o fenómeno do Colonialismo na cultura e na história portuguesa do Antigo Regime e no imaginário cultural português, como essência mitológica. Para nós, o Colonialismo é um mito, um mito político e histórico na cultura portuguesa do século XX, que Eduardo Lourenço cedo revelou na sua obra, mas que, todavia permanece como uma pegada histórica que a revolução de Abril teima em subjugar, tal é a imensidão e a profundidade da mitologia cultural portuguesa. Que prova maior precisa o leitor de Eduardo Lourenço para o manter aceso na abordagem da história da mitologia colonial portuguesa? Acreditamos que a tentativa de desmantelar o Colonialismo da sua estrutura mítica permite rasgar os horizontes profundamente ontológicos da mitologia colonial e, consecutivamente, contribuir através do estudo e da análise do labor ensaístico lourenciano, para um passo simbólico na “travessia” do “estreito histórico” que é a cultura portuguesa. Colonialism has been being discovered and revealed in the work of Eduardo Lourenço, especially through the political debate.In this text, which serves as Master dissertation in Portuguese Studies, we aim to focus the entire political and ideological issues that configures the phenomenon of Colonialism on the culture and Portuguese history of the Old Regime, through the mythological dimension. For us, colonialism is a myth, a political and historical myth in the Portuguese culture of the twentieth century, and Eduardo Lourenço , who showed early in his work, but which nevertheless remains as a historic footprint which April Revolution insists on dominating, as it is the vastness and depth of the Portuguese cultural mythology. What greater proof needs the reader of Eduardo Lourenço to keep the lights on his approach to the history of Portuguese colonial mythology?We believe that the attempt to dismantle the Colonialism of its mythic structure to tear the deep ontological horizons of colonial mythology and, thereafter, contribute by studying and analyzing the essayistic “lourencian” work for a symbolic step in “crossing” the “historic strait” that the Portuguese culture is.
