Trabalhar com crianças do 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, no ambiente de educação formal que é a Escola, implica conhecer as aprendizagens de que já são portadoras para, posteriormente, se poderem atingir novas metas. O TALE – Teste de Análise de Leitura e Escrita – aplicado neste trabalho permitiu-nos mostrar a importância do diagnóstico em domínios específicos como a leitura e a escrita, para com base nestes resultados se detectar eventuais lacunas e se proceder a uma planificação correcta das actividades lectivas. Numa simbiose entre o TALE e a construção de um corpo de conceitos que lhe deram voz construímos a dissertação apresentada que se pretende não só ser um trabalho reflectido e reflexivo, mas também um espaço aberto ao diálogo permanente que a nossa prática exige, numa escola em permanente mutação. iii

Working with basic compulsory education children in a formal educational condition such as we find in our schools implies that we should have the knowledge that they already own so that we can reach our goals. In our work, we have applied the TALE – Reading and Writing Analysis Test – and we could find out the importance of diagnosis in specific fields as reading and writing. Grounded on these results, it was possible for us to discover gaps and plan out new educational activities. In a narrow relationship between the TALE and the building of a group of concepts, we have written this work which we present now. This dissertation is not only a reflexive and reflective work but it is also an open space where permanent dialogue is required in a school that is constantly changing.
