Objetivo: Investigar a adaptação ao cancro da mama e cancro ginecológico no período pré e pós-operatório, de forma a que se possa conhecer o impacto emocional bem como os recursos sociais e a forma de lidar com a sua situação, quer no período pré quer pós-operatório, para uma intervenção adequada em ambas as fases. Amostra: Mulheres diagnosticadas com cancro da mama, cancro ginecológico e a realizar reconstrução oncoplástica, numa fase de pré e pós operatória. Esta amostra (n=76) tem uma média de idades de 58,88 anos. 30,3% referiram ter o 12º ano de escolaridade. Relativamente ao estatuto sócio-económico, 46,1% inserem-se no estatuto médio e residem maioritariamente em Lisboa. Instrumentos: Questionário Sociodemográfico, Termómetros Emocionais (Alex Mitchel Versão de Investigação de Pereira & Teixeira, 2009), Mental Adjustment to Cancer Scale (Mini-Mac) com as dimensões: “Desespero” (Alfa de Cronbach= 0,79); “Preocupação Ansiosa” (Alfa de Cronbach= 0,88); “Espírito de Luta” (Alfa de Cronbach= 0,72); “Evitamento Cognitivo” (Alfa de Cronbach= 0,84); e “Fatalismo” (Alfa de Cronbach=0,28) (Watson et al., 1994, versão portuguesa de Pais Ribeiro, Ramos & Samico, 2003) e Escala de Satisfação com o Suporte Social (ESSS) (alfa de Cronbach = 0,85) (Pais Ribeiro, 1999). Resultados: Relativamente às diferenças entre o período pré e pós-operatório ao nível emocional, verificamos que apenas a diminuição da ansiedade do período pré para o pós-operatório é estatisticamente significativo (t (74) =2,503; p=0.015). Constatamos ainda que, a adaptação no geral aumenta ligeiramente enquanto a satisfação com o suporte social diminui.

Instruments: Sociodemographic Questionnaire, Emotional Thermometer (Alex Mitchell Research Version of Pereira & Teixeira, 2009), Mental Adjustment to Cancer Scale (Mini Mac) with the dimensions: "Despair" (Cronbach's alpha = 0.79), "Concern eager "(Cronbach's alpha = 0.88)," Fighting Spirit "(Cronbach's alpha = 0.72)," Cognitive Avoidance "(Cronbach's alpha = 0.84), and" Fatalism "(Cronbach's alpha = .28) (Watson et al., 1994, the Portuguese version of Parents Ribeiro, Samico & Ramos, 2003) Satisfaction Scale and the Social Support (ESSS) (Cronbach's alpha = 0.85) (Parent Ribeiro, 1999) . Results: Regarding the differences between the pre-and postoperatively on an emotional level, we found that only a decrease in anxiety from pre to postoperative period is statistically significant (t (74) = 2.503, p = 0.015). We also acknowledge that, in general adaptation to a slightly increased while satisfaction with social support decreases.
