The genetic diversity, structure and origins of Iberian and creole cattle from the Americas were investigated with mitochondrial, y chromosome and breed structuring, although influence of imported breeds was also detected. Influence of African cattle in Iberia was inferred from the presence of T1a matrilines and INRA189-104 Y-allele. Iberian Y1 patrilines could reflect ancient influence of aurochs
