Description
Mestrado em Arquitectura Paisagista - Instituto Superior de Agronomia
The public space is, par excellence, the space for the community life. Currently, the introduction of values is demanded, although some of those values appear to have been forgotten. As far as citizens are concerned, their growing demand and care for more qualified areas leads to taking public spaces into account when urban planning is put up. At any time, but especially in troubled periods, as those we live today, people will inevitably choose to be heard in the public space. This study aims to demonstrate that the quality formerly present in some areas can be gained again through requalification. Regarding the specific characteristics of the public space, spaces can be designed in order to make community life possible, which is often lacking in today's society. The citizens are more demanding about the quality of the public space; through the project of Landscape Architecture, the public spaces, in this case, get quality back.
