Este estudo comparado está focalizado no desenvolvimento da educação pré-escolar em Portugal e Cabo Verde. A evolução da procura/resposta deste nível educativo, as redes de estabelecimentos, a criação de contextos propiciadores da formação inicial dos educadores de infância e as orientações curriculares para a educação pré-escolar constituem o seu enfoque. Apresenta uma síntese das razões que despoletaram, a nível mundial, o desenvolvimento da educação pré-escolar, fazendo uma incursão nos seus antecedentes nos dois países e na sua evolução até à actualidade. Simultaneamente, aborda as questões de política educativa que foi sendo desenvolvida nos diferentes contextos e em diferentes momentos, evidenciando perspectivas diferenciadas em relação à educação pré-escolar. ABSTRACT: This comparative study focus on the development of pre-schooling education in Portugal and Cape Verde. The development of supply/demand of this level of education, the network of schools, the creation of suitable contexts for the initial training of childcare teachers, as well as curriculum guidelines for pre-schooling education constitute its main themes. The study presents a summary of the reasons for the development of pre-schooling education in the whole world, analyzing its roots and its development up top our days in the two countries. At the same time, the study also dwells upon the issues of the education policy developed in different contexts and moments, presenting differentiated perspectives of pre-schooling education.
