O avanço das tecnologias digitais tem transformado profundamente a dinâmica das relações amorosas entre os/as jovens, promovendo uma comunicação constante, mas também abrindo espaço para novas formas de comportamentos abusivos, como o abuso cibernético no namoro (Marganski & Melander, 2015; Smith, Ireland, Park, Elwyn, & Thornberry, 2011; Strickland & Mosley, 2023; Villora, Yubero, & Navarro, 2019). A presente Dissertação teve como objetivo analisar a relação entre o abuso cibernético no namoro e o ambiente familiar, procurando compreender de que modo a dinâmica familiar poderá influenciar tanto a vitimação como a perpetração de comportamentos abusivos em ambientes digitais. O estudo baseou-se numa amostra, por conveniência, de 286 jovens (15-25 anos), maioritariamente do sexo feminino (84%), estudantes (85%) e residentes na Região Norte de Portugal (57%), sendo que 65% dos/as participantes estavam envolvidos/as numa relação amorosa no momento da investigação. A recolha de dados decorreu entre junho e julho de 2024, através da plataforma Google Forms, utilizando-se, para o efeito, a versão portuguesa do Cyber Dating Abuse Questionnaire (CibAN) e a Escala de Sinalização do Ambiente Natural Infantil (SANI). Os resultados revelaram que os participantes do sexo masculino reportaram níveis mais elevados de perpetração de agressões diretas, bem como níveis ligeiramente superiores de vitimação, ainda que, neste último caso, sem alcançar uma significância estatística robusta. Importa ainda destacar que, a perpetração de abuso cibernético demonstrou estar mais fortemente associada a dimensões de coerção e de controlo no ambiente familiar, em comparação com a vitimação. Estes dados sugerem que jovens expostos/as a contextos familiares marcados por dinâmicas coercivas e violentas tendem a reproduzir tais padrões nos seus relacionamentos amorosos, inclusive no meio digital, reforçando, assim, a ligação entre a violência familiar e o abuso cibernético no namoro. Neste sentido, salienta-se a importância do desenvolvimento e da implementação de programas de prevenção que promovam a literacia digital, a consciencialização sobre os riscos do abuso online e a construção de relações afetivas saudáveis, contribuindo para a consolidação de uma cultura de não violência.
The advance of digital technologies has profoundly transformed the dynamics of love relationships between young people, promoting constant communication but also opening space for new forms of abusive behavior, such as cyber dating abuse (Marganski & Melander, 2015; Smith, Ireland, Park, Elwyn, & Thornberry, 2011; Strickland & Mosley, 2023; Villora, Yubero, & Navarro, 2019). The aim of this Dissertation was to analyze the relationship between cyber dating abuse and the family environment, seeking to understand how family dynamics can influence both the victimization and perpetration of abusive behavior in digital environments. The study was based on a convenience sample of 286 young people (15-25 years old), mostly female (84 per cent), students (85 per cent) and living in the northern region of Portugal (57 per cent), 65 per cent of whom were involved in a romantic relationship at the time of the research. Data collection took place between June and July 2024 using the Google Forms platform, using the Portuguese version of the Cyber Dating Abuse Questionnaire (CibAN) and Escala de Sinalização do Ambiente Natural Infantil (SANI). The results showed that male participants reported higher levels of direct aggression, as well as slightly higher levels of victimization, although in the latter case without reaching robust statistical significance. It is also important to note that the perpetration of cyber abuse has been shown to be more strongly associated with dimensions of coercion and control in the family environment, compared to victimization. These data suggest that young people exposed to family contexts marked by coercive and violent dynamics tend to reproduce such patterns in their romantic relationships, including in the digital environment, thus reinforcing the link between family violence and cyber dating abuse. In this sense, it is important to develop and implement prevention programmers that promote digital literacy, awareness of the risks of online abuse and the building of healthy emotional relationships, contributing to the consolidation of a culture of non-violence.
