Stroke continues to be one of the main causes of functional disability, in which the Rehabilitation Nursing Specialist (RNS) has an active intervention in promoting motor, sensory and self-care functional re-education for the recovery of autonomy in Activities of Daily Living (ADL), decreasing the impact of disabilities. Objective: Acquire RNS skills, through an intervention plan for elderly people with neurological disease with self-care deficit and demonstrate health gains. Methodology: Training of functional activities in people with neurological disease, with intervention based on the Yin Case Studies (2018), Orem’s Self Care Nursing Deficit Theory (SNDT), Lopes Medium Range Theory (2006), through the ENCS instruments and Barthel Index. Results: Verified health gains in terms of functionality with decreased self-care deficit. Conclusions: Acquisition of RNS skills through the planning of interventions, based on functionality, promotion of education, definition of objectives, providing one with capabilities and tools to maximize its functionality.
