The Montado, is a unique agro-silvo-pastoral system, facing challenges that threaten its economic, ecological, social and cultural heritage value. This paper explores the potential of Living Labs, collaborative research platforms, to address these challenges. Through the application of multi-actor approaches, co-construction of knowledge, and collaborative practices, in a real case environment, Living Labs can promote Montado's preservation, restoration, and further development. This work highlights how Living Labs can i) safeguard biodiversity and improve soil health, by fostering research on sustainable practices and habitat management. ii) enhance economic viability, through innovation in management and production systems, policy adaptation, product diversification, and market access, iii) strengthen social impact, by promoting community engagement, knowledge sharing, cultural heritage preservation and boost of tourism, showcasing Montado's natural and cultural value.
