Trichophyton rubrum e responsavel por elevados indices de quadros de dermatofitoses. Este e um tipo de infeccao fungica que acomete tecidos queratinizados como unhas, pele e couro cabeludo. Desta maneira, e necessaria a busca de estudos com novos agentes terapeuticos, com destaque para os produtos naturais a exemplo de terpenos. Este estudo investigou as atividades do linalol, um monoterpeno alcoolico com potencial atividade antifungica, frente aos isolados clinicos de T. rubrum. Inicialmente, foi determinada a concentracao inibitoria minima (CIM) de linalol e cetoconazol por microdiluicao, em meio RPMI 1640. Em seguida, foi avaliada a acao do linalol nas concentracoes 128 ƒÊg/mL (1/2CIM), 256 ƒÊg/mL (CIM), 512 ƒÊg/mL (2XCIM) e para o azolico cetoconazol em 4 ƒÊg/mL (1/2CIM), 8 ƒÊg/mL (CIM), 16 ƒÊg/mL (2xCIM) sobre o crescimento micelial de T. rubrum LM 305, os quais apresentaram atividade inibitoria diferindo estatisticamente do controle (p<0,05). Posteriormente, o efeito da droga-teste sobre a conidiogenese foi analisado, mostrando efeito inibitorio (p<0,05), destacando sua concentracao de 512 ƒÊg/mL que foi semelhante a do cetoconazol. Por fim, observou-se a atividade antifungica sobre a germinacao dos conidios (p<0,05) e, mais uma vez, o linalol apresentou acao inibitoria semelhante ao cetoconazol. Com isso, pode-se concluir que o linalol e um agente antifungico com grande potencial contra T. rubrum, um agente importante nas dermatofitoses.
Trichophyton rubrum is responsible for high rates of dermatophytosis. This is a type of fungal infection that affects keratinized tissues such as nails, skin and scalp. In this way, it is necessary to search for studies with new therapeutic agents, with emphasis on natural products such as terpenes. This study investigated the activities of linalool, an alcoholic monoterpene with potential antifungal activity, against clinical isolates of T. rubrum. Initially, minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) of linalool and ketoconazole were determined by microdilution in RPMI 1640 medium. The action of linalool at concentrations of 128 μg / mL (1 / 2MIC), 256 μg / mL ), 512 μg / mL (2XMIC), and for azole ketoconazole in 4 μg / mL (1 / 2MIC), 8 μg / mL (MIC), 16 μg / mL (2xMIC) on the mycelial growth of T. rubrum LM 305 , which presented inhibitory activity differing statistically from the control (p <0.05). Subsequently, the effect of the test drug on conidiogenesis was analyzed, showing inhibitory effect (p <0.05), highlighting its concentration of 512 μg / mL, which was similar to that of ketoconazole. Finally, antifungal activity on conidia germination (p <0.05) was observed, and once again, linalool presented a similar inhibitory action to ketoconazole. Thus, it can be concluded that linalool is an antifungal agent with great potential against T. rubrum, an important agent in dermatophytosis.
