This article aims to develop the concepts of reality and authenticity having asmain reference “The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction” by WalterBenjamin (1936). Contemporary readings of Benjamin's work make possible itscontextualization in an even more actual way. Thus, the main concern of this essay is toconfirm the survival of the aura stated by Benjamin as a fundamental condition of authenticityof the object in times marked by a (hyper-)reality whose speed does not seem to support at all.

Este artigo pretende investigar os conceitos de realidade e autenticidade tendo como referência principal o ensaio “A Obra de Arte na Era de Sua Reprodutibilidade Técnica” de Walter Benjamin (1936). Leituras contemporâneas da obra, por sua vez possibilitam sua contextualização de maneira ainda mais atual. Dessa forma, será aqui abordada a sobrevivência da aura constatada por Benjamin como condição fundamental de autenticidade do objeto em tempos marcados por uma (hiper-) realidade cuja velocidade parece não comportá-la.
