Literary Tourism, still in an embryonic phase, is timidly beginning its development in Portugal. It appears, as you will see, as an aspect of Cultural Tourism, where it differentiates itself by being an alternative to mass tourism. This tourist typology is associated with landscapes, but also with material and immaterial heritage, allowing the tourist reader to experience tourist destinations through new perspectives. In this study, central concepts related to literary tourism and how authors mark cities, towns and villages are addressed in an unparalleled way. Methodologically, the necessary bibliographical references were prepared, followed by a data analysis on what has been done in Portugal to implement literary tourism. Finally, and through specific research and bibliographical-documentary review focused on the Portuguese literary production that best portrays the tradition of “Jogo do Pau”, which in December 2023 obtained, through the designation of “Jogo do Pau de Cabeceiras de Basto”, the classification of Intangible Heritage of Portugal, it was possible to compile a significant Literary Corpus, consisting of 4 authors and 4 novels, whose description is developed, demonstrating how much literature and this mastery are interconnected with places and traditions, contributing to the dissemination of this traditional game and new tourist experiences.
Estando, ainda, numa fase embrionária, o Turismo Literário, inicia timidamente o seu desenvolvimento em Portugal. Surge, como se irá constatar, como uma vertente do Turismo Cultural, onde se diferencia por ser uma alternativa ao turismo de massas. Esta tipologia turística associa-se às paisagens, mas também ao património material e imaterial, permitindo ao turista leitor vivenciar os destinos turísticos através de novos olhares. No presente estudo, abordam-se conceitos centrais relacionados com o turismo literário e como os autores marcam de forma inigualável cidades, vilas e aldeias. Metodologicamente, foi elaborada a necessária revisão de bibliografia, apresentando-se, em seguida, uma análise de dados sobre o que tem vindo a ser feito em Portugal para implementação do turismo literário. Por fim, e através de uma específica pesquisa e revisão bibliográfico- documental centrada sobre a produção literária portuguesa que melhor retrata a tradição do Jogo do Pau, que em dezembro de 2023 obteve, através da designação de Jogo do Pau de Cabeceiras de Basto, a classificação de Património Imaterial de Portugal, foi possível compilar um Corpus Literário significativo, constituído por 4 autores e 4 romances, cuja descrição se desenvolve, demonstrando quanto a literatura e esta maestria se interligam com os lugares e tradições, contribuindo, para a divulgação deste jogo tradicional e para novas experiências turísticas.
