“A Luta Continua” in Xullaji’s Projeto Prétu: An analysis of the video-manifesto as a narrative of political resistance

In this article, we analyze the video-manifesto of the song “A Luta Continua” by  Xullaji's Prétu project, exploring its potential as a tool for social intervention that proposes a reflection on colonialism, neoliberalism and the dynamics of exploitation of the African continent. Using a qualitative approach, we investigated the themes addressed, the visual and sound resources, also drawing on work already done on the artist and pieces published in magazines and newspapers. This study seeks to discuss the role of this video-manifesto as an alternative digital media in the cultural debate on social dynamics in Portugal, especially in relation to migratory experiences and narratives of resistance. In addition, we analyze how the video manifesto can engage the public, helping to confront perspectives rooted in the country's social imaginary.  

Neste artigo, analisamos o vídeo-manifesto da música “A Luta Continua” do projeto Prétu de Xullaji, explorando o seu potencial como ferramenta de intervenção social que propõe a reflexão sobre o colonialismo, o neoliberalismo e as dinâmicas de exploração do continente africano. Utilizando uma abordagem qualitativa, investigamos as temáticas abordadas, os recursos visuais e sonoros, recorrendo, ainda, aos trabalhos já realizados sobre o artista e a peças publicadas em revistas e jornais. Este estudo busca discutir o papel deste vídeo-manifesto, enquanto media digital alternativo, no debate cultural sobre as dinâmicas sociais em Portugal, especialmente em relação às experiências migratórias e às narrativas de resistência. Além disso, analisamos como o vídeo-manifesto pode engajar o público, ajudando a confrontar perspectivas enraizadas no imaginário social do país.
