Under the SUS, pharmacists should work together with health teams in technical activities pedagogical, with educational action sof a clinical nature, seeking to develop knowledge and skills to promote the rational use of medicines. Therefore, this work intended to describe the profile and performance of pharmacists in the public health network in the city of Jaboatão dos Guararapes. A semi-structured and self-administered questionnaire was applied, from October to December 2019, in the pharmacists' work places. The data were tabulated and the results provided informationonthesociodemographicand professional profile of pharmacists, as well as suggestions for improving thecity's Pharmaceutical Assistance. Nineteen professionals were interviewed, of these, tem were male and nine female. Regarding marital status, 42% reported being single; 42% married; 11% judicially separated and 5% another. The main reason that led the pharmacist to choose to take the Pharmacy course was the family influence (32%). As for post graduate studies, 84% did some type of post graduate study. 63% of pharmacists had no command of another language. Greater professional valorization, promotion of pharmaceutical care and the hiring of more pharmacists were some of the professionals' suggestions for improving municipal pharmaceutical assistance. Studies like this contribute to the increase in discussions about the pharmacist's performance in SUS, especially in the Northeast region, which are still few in the literature, and rein forces the importance of the Multiprofessional Residency Program in Primary Care and Family Health, in the production of knowledge to improve health actions carried out in the municipality.
RESUMO: No âmbito do SUS, o farmacêutico deveria atuar juntamente com as equipes de saúde, em atividades técnico-pedagógicas, com ações educacionais de caráter clínico, buscando desenvolver conhecimentos e habilidades para a promoção do uso racional de medicamentos. Frente isso, este trabalho objetivou descrever o perfil e atuação dos farmacêuticos na rede pública de saúde do município do Jaboatão dos Guararapes-PE. Para tal feito, foi aplicado questionário semiestruturado e autoaplicável nos locais de trabalho dos farmacêuticos. Os dados foram tabulados e os resultados forneceram informações sobre o perfil sociodemográfico e profissional dos farmacêuticos. Foram entrevistados 19 profissionais, destes, dez eram do sexo masculino e nove do sexo feminino. Quanto ao estado civil, a maioria referiu estar solteiros (42%) e casados (42%). O principal motivo que levou o farmacêutico a escolher o curso de Farmácia foi a influência familiar (32%). Quanto à pós-graduação, 84% fizeram algum tipo de pós-graduação e 63% dos farmacêuticos não possuíam domínio de outro idioma. Maior valorização profissional, promoção da atenção farmacêutica e a contratação de mais farmacêuticos foram algumas das sugestões para a melhoria da assistência farmacêutica municipal. O conceito de “perfil” é amplo e complexo em relação à interpretação dos dados, envolvendo diferentes aspectos que extrapolam de alguma forma o propósito do estudo. Entretanto, vale destacar que o estudo alcançou o objetivo proposto, uma vez que revelou dados que permitiram um conhecimento mais profundo do profissional farmacêutico. As for postgraduate studies, 84% had completed some type of postgraduate degree and 63% of pharmacists were not fluent in another language. Greater professional appreciation, promotion of pharmaceutical care and hiring more pharmacists were some of the suggestions for improving municipal pharmaceutical care. The concept of “profile” is broad and complex in relation to data interpretation, involving different aspects that somehow extrapolate the purpose of the study. However, it is noteworthy that the study achieved the proposed objective, as it revealed data that allowed a deeper knowledge of the pharmacist.
