This article explores the impact and implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Health Sciences and related education. With a focus on medical diagnostics, treatment personalisation, and hospital management, the article highlights how AI has the potential to revolutionize both practice and research in healthcare. Concurrently, the text examines the increasing role of AI in Health Sciences education, addressing its contribution to the personalisation of learning, realistic simulations, and automated assessments. However, the article also draws attention to the inherent challenges of AI implementation, including issues of accuracy, ethics, privacy, and equal access. The concluding remarks offer an ambivalent view, recognizing both the transformative opportunities and the ethical and technical challenges of AI in Health Sciences. The article anticipates the undertaking of a subsequent study, a training needs survey, aimed at exploring how teachers have been utilizing AI in Health Sciences. Based on these insights, a targeted training programme for teachers in the field of health sciences will be developed, whose impact and effectiveness will be carefully evaluated.
O presente artigo explora o impacto e as implicações da Inteligência Artificial (IA) nas Ciências da Saúde e na Educação associada. Com foco em diagnósticos médicos, personalização de tratamentos, e gestão hospitalar, o artigo destaca como a IA tem o potencial de revolucionar a prática e a investigação na saúde. Paralelamente, o texto analisa o papel crescente da IA na educação das Ciências da Saúde, abordando a sua contribuição para a personalização da aprendizagem, simulações realísticas e avaliações automatizadas. No entanto, o artigo também chama a atenção para os desafios inerentes à implementação da IA, incluindo questões de precisão, ética, privacidade e igualdade de acesso. As considerações finais oferecem uma visão ambivalente, reconhecendo tanto as oportunidades transformadoras quanto os desafios éticos e técnicos da IA nas Ciências da Saúde. O artigo antecipa a realização de um estudo subsequente, um levantamento de necessidades de formação, que visará explorar como os professores têm utilizado a IA nas Ciências da Saúde. Com base nesses insights, será desenvolvido um programa de formação direcionado para professores na área das ciências da saúde, cujo impacto e eficácia serão cuidadosamente avaliados.
