This article it is a bibliometric descriptive study, which was based on the master’s degree produced in the Postgraduate Programs in Tourismin Brazil. We analyzed 206 Master’s Degree Dissertations, defended in four Programs selected (UAM, UNIVALI, UCS and UFRN), with the time delimiting the period 2008-2012, the total number of references that universe was 17,701 citations, 1,638 being sampled. The results obtained by the sample showed that the books and contributed chapters with the highest number of citations in these works (58%), and the articles contributed only 15% of this total. The highest concentration of the cited documents have publication, dates up to 15 years, before the date of the dissertation; the Portuguese language predominated in quotes (85%), followed by English (11%).
O presente artigo trata-se de um estudo bibliométrico-descritivo, que teve como base as dissertações de mestrado produzidas nos Programas de Pós-Graduação em Turismo (PPGTUR), no Brasil. Foram analisadas 206 dissertações de mestrado acadêmicos, defendidas nos quatro PPGTUR selecionados (UAM, UNIVALI, UCS e UFRN), tendo como delimitação temporal o período de 2008-2012, o total de referências desse universo foi de 17.701 citações, sendo 1.638 amostradas. Os resultados demonstraram que os livros e capítulos contribuíram com o maior número de citações nesses trabalhos (58%), tendo os artigos de periódicos contribuídos com apenas 15% desse total. A maior concentração dos documentos citados tem datas de publicação, de até 15 anos antes da data da defesa da dissertação, e o idioma português predominou nas citações (85%), seguido pelo inglês (11%).
