The community involvement in the tourism revitalization process at the island has it main focus in the municipal reunification proposition. This way Vera Cruz and Itaparica would become one single city, therefore one single “touristic product” for the benefit of the island image as one single destiny. Even not being the only possible way to increase the tourist activity at the island, this is one of the main goals, if not the only one, in an attempt to rescue the island attractiveness.
O envolvimento da comunidade no processo de revitalização do turismo na Ilha tem como vetor principal a proposta de reunificação municipal. Assim, Vera Cruz e Itaparica se tornariam um único município e, portanto, um único “produto turístico” beneficiando-se da imagem da Ilha como um único destino. Embora esta não seja a única alternativa possível de ampliar a atividade turística na Ilha, este tem sido um dos principais movimentos, senão o único, na tentativa de resgate da atratividade ilhéu.
