The relationship between tourism and heritage is important, diverse and complex. It is certain that tourism depends on heritage to structuralize its offer, but there is a repaying in the form of an increase of visibility and income.The aim of this paper is to promote a discussion about some aspects related with this matter, such as: different concepts of heritage and reasons for its increasing valuation; attitudes in the management of heritage; tourists exploitations of the corporeal and incorporeal heritage; criteria for the tourist recognition of heritage; standardization and differentiation in the models of showing heritage.

A relação entre o turismo e o património é uma matéria tão importante quanto diversa e complexa. Se é certo que o turismo depende do património para estruturar a sua oferta, não é menos verdade que lhe retribui através de um aumento de visibilidade e geração de receitas próprias.Pretende-se, com este artigo, debater alguns dos aspetos que dão corpo a este relacionamento, a saber: diferentes formas de interpretar o conceito de património e razões para a sua crescente valorização; atitudes na gestão do património; aproveitamentos turísticos do património material e imaterial; critérios para o reconhecimento turístico do património; padronização e diferenciação nos modelos de oferta do património.
