Transformed into a symbol of resistance and the fight for freedom against all forms of oppression, the myth of Antigone was significantly chosen to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the "Carnation Revolution" (April 25, 1974), an event that marked the end of almost half a century of dictatorial power in Portugal, supported by mechanisms of repression, political persecution, and censorship.

Transformado em símbolo de resistência e de luta pela liberdade contra todas as formas de opressão, o mito de Antígona foi significativamente escolhido para celebrar os 50 anos da “Revolução dos Cravos” (25 de abril de 1974), acontecimento que marcou o fim de quase meio século de poder ditatorial em Portugal, suportado por mecanismos de repressão, de perseguição política e de censura.
