It is intended to investigate the nature of the unison by rethinking the implications of the phenomenon in musical composition. Horizonte for vibraphone and electronics, by the author of this article, will be presented as one of the possible results. The instability of the traditional definition of unison, as a sound unit based on principles of equality, is here compared with a study of the relation between unison and heterophony in the vocal performance of North India by the ethnomusicologist John Napier. In this article, it is proposed a reinterpretation of the concept, which can be perceived and understood through the musical work.

Pretende-se investigar a natureza do uníssono repensando as implicações do fenómeno na composição musical. Será apresentada a obra Horizonte para vibrafone e eletrónica, da autora deste artigo, como um dos resultados possíveis. Identifica-se a instabilidade da definição tradicional do uníssono, enquanto unidade sonora baseada em princípios de igualdade, comparativamente ao estudo da relação entre uníssono e heterofonia, na performance vocal da Índia do Norte, realizado pelo etnomusicólogo John Napier. Neste artigo, propõe-se uma reinterpretação do conceito, passível de ser percecionada e compreendida através da obra musical.
