This text aims to contribute to the understanding of the Chalcolithic walled enclosure of Castanheiro do Vento (Horta do Douro, Vila Nova de Foz Côa) as a place forged in a profuse network of practices, from which territories and landscapes were activated. To this end, it analyses its relationship with the surrounding watercourses, as well as the remains of ichthyofauna recovered during excavation. By demonstrating the importance of the Douro, Torto and Teja rivers valleys in the network of places where the enclosure is located, we discuss how the occurrence of barbel and shad/save allows us to deepen our knowledge of this network. The migratory cycles of these fi sh and their reproductive behaviour, given its seasonal character, are indicators of a cyclical temporality that would have structured the dynamics of territories and landscapes.
