This paper presents the results of an assessment workof the contributions of Portos Urban Rehabilitation Society Porto Vivo for housing rehabilitation and the rentedsector. The starting point is the need for monitoring PortugueseSRUs activities, since their legal framework wasestablished some years ago. First of all, an assessmentmatrix is proposed, which considers SRUs main goalsand the most significant contextual dimensions for its interpretation. Then, the case-study is presented, exploringa diverse range of information to analyze SRUs activities.Even though Porto Vivo appears to be partially responsiblefor a growth of interest in housing rehabilitation, itsaction doesnt seem to be able to overcome local, regionaland national constraints to Portos housing rehabilitationprocess.
