A 15 de maio de 2018 cerca de cinquenta adeptos invadiram a academia do Sporting Clube de Portugal e agrediram elementos da equipa de futebol sénior, em protesto com os resultados desportivos da equipa. O acontecimento rapidamente teve eco na comunicação social e as horas e dias seguintes ficaram marcadas por uma presença massiva de conteúdos relacionados com o clube, relegando temas da esfera nacional e internacional para um plano secundário. A invasão à academia do Sporting foi o acontecimento determinante para o agudizar de um período que os media nacionais apelidaram de ‘Crise no Sporting’. Durante esta fase, sucederam-se as conferências de imprensa levadas a cabo pelo Sporting, funcionando estas como ‘o acontecimento’ sobre o ‘acontecimento’, numa espécie de luta pela versão correta da história das ocorrências. Com base no estágio curricular para a obtenção do grau de mestre entre 5 de fevereiro e 1 de junho de 2018 na editoria de desporto da RTP, o presente estudo pretende avaliar o contributo editorial das conferências de imprensa na cobertura jornalística desportiva, tendo como referência a cobertura televisiva da RTP 1 e RTP3 à ‘Crise no Sporting’.
ABSTRACT: On May 15, 2018, almost fifty supporters invaded the Sporting Clube de Portugal Training Centre and attacked the football team, as a protest in relation to the sports results. The event quickly had an echo in the media, and the following hours and days were marked by a massive presence of content related to Sporting Clube de Portugal in the portuguese television news, relegating other national and international topics to a secondary level. The invasion of Sporting Training Centre was the determinant event to intensify a period that the national media called ‘Sporting crisis’. During this period, the number of press conferences carried out by Sporting increased, functioning as "the event" over the "event", based on a continuous struggle for the correct version of the incidents. Based on the curricular internship for obtaining a master's degree between 5th of February and the 1st of June 2018 at RTP's sports department, this study aims to evaluate the editorial contribution of press conferences in sports news coverage, with reference to TV coverage of RTP1 and RTP3 to 'Sporting crisis'.
