O nascimento do cristianismo foi o primeiro passo para uma mudança de fundo no mundo greco-romano, alterando substancialmente as suas bases, fundeadas mais de um milénio antes de Cristo. Em poucos séculos, a nova religião conseguiu impor-se num mundo que a recebeu, inicialmente, com indiferença, escárnio e até mesmo violência, “derrotando” o sistema religioso vigente há mais de um milénio, construindo as bases sobre as quais se edificaria uma instituição que ainda hoje, passados dois mil anos, tem influência a uma escala global. Contudo, será o cristianismo um culto completamente original? Que nasce do nada? Que se consegue expandir rapidamente simplesmente com base na sua mensagem? Ou será que a religião de Jesus baseou parte da sua instituição em elementos da cultura da sua época, e em divindades que já existiam há centenas de anos no universo greco-romano? Esta é nossa teoria. Baseando-nos nas semelhanças entre Dioniso e Jesus, procuramos estabelecer as analogias possíveis no sentido de demonstrar que a expansão do cristianismo encontrou uma base poderosa nos mitos e cultos de Dioniso, uma das divindades mais populares do Mundo Antigo, e que este possível sincretismo desempenhou um papel importante na fase inicial do cristianismo.
Abstract: The birth of Christianity was the first step of a great change in the Greco-Roman world, substantially modifing their foundations that were setted more then one millennium before Christh. In few centuries, this new religion was able to imposed itself in a world that as received it, initialy, with indifference, ridicule and even violence, “defeating” the religious system that was present for more then one millenium, succefully building the foundations on which it would edify an instituition that even today, after two thousand years, has influence on a global scale. However, is Christianity a completely original cult? That was born from nothing? That was able to expand itself so rapidly, only because of its message? Or does the religion of Jesus based part of its instituition on elements of the culture of that time, and in gods that already existed, for hundreads of years, in the Greco-Roman universe? That is our theory. Basing ourselfes in the similarities between Dioniso and Jesus, we will try to establish the possible analogies, seeking to demonstrate that the evolution of Christianity found a powerful foundation in the myths and cult of Dionysus, one of the most popular deities of the Ancient World, and that this possible syncretism played an important role in Christianity early stage.
