Descrição

This chapter covers some key topics for asset management in general and for the administration of water supply and wastewater treatment infrastructure in particular. These infrastructures are public goods with high economic investment and are essential for the provision of basic services to the population and must therefore be managed in a sustainable manner to guarantee a high-quality service in harmony with environmental protection. Based on a real-world example of asset management in water infrastructure, a new Balanced Scorecard dashboard was created to address the issues highlighted in the company's performance metrics. The longitudinal analysis of the Balanced Scorecard enabled the team to identify many indicators as well as the inadequacy of existing indicators to define the company's current situation. This chapter covers in detail the approach utilized in developing this new Balanced Scorecard decision support dashboard.
