Este artigo visa contribuir para o debate antropológico internacional sobre arquivos etnográficos e a sua preservação. Defendemos que os contributos da Antropologia são centrais ao debate transdisciplinar que se foca na preservação dos dados; na segunda vida dos registos etnográficos; na construção de novo conhecimento decorrente dos arquivos; e na transferência de conhecimento para as populações estudadas, domínios que são comuns à antropologia e à linguística. Durante o trabalho de campo, antropólogos e outros etnógrafos constroem os seus documentos através da experiência e da construção de relações intersubjetividade, e guardam-nos no domínio privado. Os arquivos etnográficos podem ser reflectidos como património disciplinar, mas a discussão em Portugal é ainda tímida. Neste artigo, que fará um mapeamento das reflexões e principais esforços já realizados, esperamos contribuir para aproximar a discussão entre a importância de arquivar - salvaguardar dados primários - e a responsabilidade face às gerações futuras. This article aims to contribute to the international anthropological debate on ethnographic archives and their preservation. We believe that the contributions of anthropology are central to a transdisciplinary debate that focuses on the preservation of data; the second life of ethnographic records; the construction of new knowledge from archives; and the transfer of knowledge to the populations studied. something common both in Anthropology and in Linguistics. During the fieldwork, anthropologists and other ethnographers construct their documents through experience and intersubjectivity relations and keeping them in the private domain. Ethnographic archives may be problematized as disciplinary heritage however, the discussion in Portugal is still timid. In this article, which will map the reflections and main efforts already made, we hope to contribute to approximate the discussion between the relevance of archiving – safeguarding primary data – and the responsibility towards future generations.
