Este relatório, no âmbito de mestrado, descreve as atividades realizadas ao longo do período de estágio no estúdio LXPRO Produção Musical, bem como é feita uma reflexão sobre a criatividade musical com recurso à técnica de sampling digital. São também abordadas algumas das aprendizagens a respeito das técnicas de captação, de edição e mistura e de masterização áudio. Estão descritos alguns dos projetos onde a estagiária fez assistência ao trabalho regular do produtor e orientador no local de estágio, Orlando Costa. Entre outros trabalhos, são relatados o processo de produção de um EP, a produção de um evento ao vivo e a gravação de algumas locuções para rádio. Ainda neste estágio foi desenvolvido um trabalho de composição musical de seis paisagens sonoras, recorrendo à técnica de sampling digital em conjunto com a utilização de instrumentos virtuais (VST). O tratamento áudio realizado nessas gravações e também nos instrumentos virtuais, tal como a sobreposição dos vários elementos, fomentou a criação de discursos narrativos e semânticos. A abordagem durante o processo criativo consistiu na seleção de samples baseada no seu conteúdo sonoro específico a partir da biblioteca de sons existentes na plataforma digital online Freesound. Esta foi escolhida como banco de sons por utilizar um licenciamento Creative Commons evitando assim o processo de sample clearance. Neste trabalho são também abordadas algumas das preocupações ético-legais decorrentes da técnica de sampling digital.
This report, within the scope of the master's degree, describes the activities carried out during the internship period at the LXPRO Produção Musical studio, as well as a reflection on musical creativity using the digital sampling technique. Some of the lessons learned about the techniques of audio recording, editing, mixing and mastering are also discussed. Some of the projects where the intern assisted the regular work of the producer and advisor at the internship site, Orlando Costa, are described. Among other works, the production process of an EP, the production of a live event and the recording of some radio voice-overs are reported. Also at this internship, a musical composition of six soundscapes was developed, using the digital sampling technique together with the use of virtual instruments (VST). The audio treatment carried out in these recordings and also in the virtual instruments, as well as the overlapping of the various elements, fostered the creation of narrative and semantic discourses. The approach during the creative process consisted of selecting samples based on their specific sound content from the existing sound library on the online digital platform Freesound. This was chosen as the sound bank because it uses Creative Commons licenses, thus avoiding the sample clearance process. In this work, some of the ethical-legal concerns arising from the digital sampling technique are also addressed.
