Evaluation of instruments for the use of a condom

Introduction: The usage of scales directed to the health area is a relevant contribution to clinical practice, because the measures are more reliable and standardized. Objective: To analyze the studies that used scales to assess condom use. Method: It is an integrative review, which was conducted in the CINAHL, Medline and Scopus databases, obtaining the selection of eight papers. Results: The results pointed the appearance of three categories: Self-efficacy and usage of the condom, attitude and skill to the usage of the condom and barriers to the usage of the condom. Conclusion: The validated scales found in literature deal with concepts and aspects that influence condom use and subsidize the practice of nursing professionals to identify condom use, contributing in the directed assessment of sexual behavior.
