This work is part of the dissertation “The Meanings of the Amateur Soccer of Recife from its interdependence with the Professional Soccer”. Here, we reflect on the amateurism and professionalism as directions of the sportivization process and taking the amateur soccer as inquiry object, we analise the singularity of this social figuration and its relations in the Recife city. Underlie this work the Elias figurational sociology, the Bourdieu´s notion of field and historical studies about sports and football.

Este trabalho é parte da dissertação de mestrado “Os significados do futebol amador recifense a partir de sua interdependência com o futebol profissional”. Nele, consideramos o amadorismo e o profissionalismo como direções do processo de esportivização e, tomando o futebol amador como objeto, analisamos as especificidades desta figuração social e suas relações na cidade do Recife. Embasam este trabalho a sociologia figuracional elisiana, a noção de campo bourdesiana e estudos históricos sobre esportes e futebol.
