MOOC e b-Learning: uma proposta para o mestrado em TIC na Educação e Formação do Instituto Politécnico de Bragança

A crescente evolução das tecnologias de informação e comunicação exige cidadãos capazes de acompanhar essa evolução de modo a tirarem proveito dos benefícios que estas tecnologias disponibilizam, minimizando eventuais limitações ou constrições que as mesmas possam provocar. Este contínuo desenvolvimento nas tecnologias aplicadas ao contexto educativo impulsionou a criação de novas formas de aprendizagem. Algumas destas formas de ensino e aprendizagem impulsionam o aparecimento de cenários de aprendizagem virtuais cada vez mais viáveis e amadurecidos. Atualmente é comummente aceite que a aprendizagem do aluno não é só efetuada na escola. Muito do conhecimento que o aluno adquire é através das tecnologias de informação e comunicação, mais concretamente da Internet. O e-Learning é um exemplo da aplicação dessas tecnologias que permite a interação com os conteúdos de aprendizagem e com os parceiros de aprendizagem, permitindo a partilha e construção colaborativa de informação, conhecimento, habilidades e atitudes entre dois ou mais utilizadores. Os MOOC ou Massive Open Online Courses correspondem também a uma modalidade de distribuição massiva da aprendizagem online, em acesso aberto, em franca expansão. No corrente ano letivo de 2012/2013, o mestrado em Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação na Educação e Formação registou uma redução muito significativa no número de alunos inscritos. Serão as constrições geográficas e temporais do modelo de ensino e aprendizagem presencial os motivos deste decréscimo acentuado? Poderão as tecnologias educativas contribuir para inverter esta situação? Que modalidades de aprendizagem a distância serão mais adequadas? Que mudanças deverão ocorrer? Que estratégias e ações deverão ser formuladas e implementadas? Com vista a encontrar respostas que contribuam para minimizar a situação referida, a presente dissertação teve como principal objetivo avaliar a possibilidade do mestrado em TIC na Educação e Formação funcionar numa modalidade de ensino a distância suportada por tecnologias e-Learning, mais concretamente na modalidade de blended learning (b-Learning). Paralelamente é sugerida também a modalidade MOOC enquanto forma de captação de alunos, através da oferta de algumas unidades curriculares em formato de acesso aberto.

The growing evolution of Information and Communication Technologies requires capable citizens keeping path with this evolution in order to benefit of these technologies, minimizing eventual restrictions or constrictions that might be caused. This continuous evolution in educational technologies applied within the educational field contributed towards new educational forms of learning. Some of this implemented forms of learning contributed towards virtual learning scenarios increasingly feasible and mature. Nowadays, it is commonly accepted that student’s learning occurs not only at school. Most of the acquired knowledge by the student happens through ICT, more specifically through the Internet. E-Learning is an example of how those technologies are applied allowing not only the interaction between the learning contents and the learning partners, but also the collaborative sharing and construction of information, knowledge, abilities and attitudes between two or more users. The MOOC or Massive Open Online Courses also correspond to a massive distribution method of online learning, in an open access mode and progressively increasing. This academic year of 2012/2013, the masters in ICT applied to Education and Training registered a significant reduction in the number of enrolled students. Are geographic and time constrictions of the face-to-face teaching and learning model responsible for this strong decrease? Can educational technologies contribute to reverse this situation? What kind of distance learning methods would be more appropriate? What changes should occur? What kind of strategies and actions should be provided and implemented? In order to find answers to contribute to minimize the described situation, the main objective of this dissertation is the evaluation of the possibility of the masters in ICT applied to Education and Training be based on a distance learning method supported by e-Learning technologies, more specifically by blended learning (b-learning). In parallel it is also suggested the MOOC method as a way of recruiting students, by offering some courses in the form of open access.
