O acesso à informação fidedigna contribui para uma organização mais fiável, estruturada, competente e, com melhor capacidade de resposta aos diversos problemas que possam surgir. A necessidade em adquirir ferramentas de apoio aos Sistemas de Informação permite adotar estratégias que facilitem a gestão eficaz dessa informação tornando-a disponível e de fácil acesso. Este trabalho pretende verificar a importância que a gestão da informação e do conhecimento têm para as diversas organizações e por consequência para a Marinha, indicando qual a melhor forma para garantir essa gestão e qual a melhor ferramenta a utilizar. Ao longo da investigação, constatou-se qual a importância da informação, nomeadamente, da informação financeira na Marinha reconhecendo-se a sua relevância para o cumprimento das várias missões. Atualmente, a gestão da informação e do conhecimento na Marinha possuí algumas deficiências nomeadamente no que concerne à área financeira carecendo de modernização e atualização. Desta forma, verificou-se a necessidade de a Marinha possuir uma ferramenta transversal a toda a organização que ajude no processo da gestão de informação e conhecimento financeiro podendo executar todos os processos existentes com base em informação de qualidade e em tempo real.

Access to reliable information contributes to a reliable organization, structured, competent and with improved responsiveness to the various problems that may arise. The need to acquire Support Information Systems tools allows adopting strategies which facilitate this information’s effective management, making it available and easily accessible. This master thesis aims to verify the importance that information and knowledge management have to several organizations and consequently to the Portuguese Navy, showing the best way to ensure that management is the best tool to achieve the best results. Throughout the investigation, it was found the importance of information, particularly financial information in the Portuguese Navy recognizing its relevance to fulfill various missions. Currently, the information management and knowledge in the Portuguese Navy owned some shortcomings in particular as regards the financial area lacking modernization and upgrade. Thus, there is a need for the Portuguese Navy to have a transverse tool that helps the entire organization in information management and financial knowledge in the process of running all existing processes based on quality information in real time.
