O presente Trabalho de Investigação Aplicada, enquadra-se na temática das Operações Psicológicas no qual é apresentado o tema, “O contributo das operações psicológicas em apoio às forças presentes no teatro de operações do Afeganistão”. Este trabalho tem, como objetivo principal demonstrar, de que forma é que as Operações Psicológicas têm contribuído, no cumprimento da missão por parte da International Security Assistance Force no Afeganistão. Para tal, este trabalho encontra-se dividido em duas partes. Na primeira parte, é realizado um enquadramento teórico, no qual se pretende produzir uma descrição acerca das Operações Psicológicas, do Afeganistão, e da Internacional Security Assistance Force. Na segunda parte, surge então o Trabalho de Campo, no qual através de entrevistas, a Oficiais do Exército Português que desempenharam funções, no âmbito das Operações Psicológicas no Afeganistão, procurámos verificar, quais é que têm sido as suas limitações, e, de que forma têm contribuído as Operações Psicológicas, no cumprimento da missão da International Security Assistance Force. Relativamente à metodologia, utilizada na elaboração do trabalho, foi utilizada a análise de artigos científicos e de documentos oficiais que se dirigiam à temática, de modo a realizar um enquadramento conceptual. Foram realizadas também entrevistas por forma a obter dados importantes, para que conseguíssemos elaborar as nossas conclusões. Com o aproximar do final, deste trabalho, começamos a verificar que as Operações Psicológicas, são uma ótima ferramenta que o comandante tem ao seu dispor, para fazer face às adversidades dos atuais teatros de operações, concluindo ainda que estas têm contribuído, através do desempenho da sua função no Teatro de Operações do Afeganistão.

Abstract This Applied Research Work, falls within the thematic of Psychological Operations in which is shown the theme "The contribution of psychological operations in support of forces present in the theater of operations of Afghanistan." This work has as their main objectives demonstrate how the Psychological Operations have contributes, in fulfilling the mission from the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. For this purpose, this work is divided into two parts. In the first part, we conducted a theoretical framework in which it seeks to produce a description about the Psychological Operations of Afghanistan and the International Security Assistance Force. In the second part, then there is the Field Work, in which through interviews to Portuguese Army Officers who played duties within the scope of Psychological Operations in Afghanistan, we tried to verify, which have been their limitations, and, how have contributed the Psychological Operations within the International Security Assistance Force. Regarding the methodology of the study, we used the analysis of scientific articles, and official documents that went to the subject, in order to achieve a good conceptual framework. Interviews were also conducted in order to gather more important data, so that we could proceed to our conclusions. With the approach of end of this work, we begin to see that the Psychological Operations are a great tool that the commander has at its disposal to tackle the adversities of the current theaters of operations, concluding that they still have contributed and played their role in Afghanistan.
