O presente Trabalho de Investigação Aplicada tem como principal objectivo o estudo e análise da Artilharia no âmbito da defesa de costa. Tendo em conta esta temática, pretende-se caracterizar a evolução da Artilharia no âmbito da defesa de costa em Portugal. Desta forma proporciona-se ao leitor uma visão daquilo que foi o desenvolvimento que a Artilharia sofreu neste domínio. A abordagem da Artilharia de Costa como ramo individualizado da Artilharia, contribui para uma melhor compreensão do papel que esta desempenha na defesa costeira portuguesa. Para tal é caracterizada a sua organização, os meios que a compõe, bem como as ameaças que esta enfrenta. Por forma a concretizar o objectivo deste TIA, analisou-se a evolução dos materiais e os períodos em que a Artilharia teve mais preponderância no âmbito da defesa de costa.

Abstract The present work has the main objective of study and analyze the Artillery in the defense of the coast. We intend to characterize the evolution of the Artillery in the defense of the Portuguese coast. Therefore, it provides to the reader a vision of how the Artillery has evolved in this area. The approach to the Coast Artillery, as a individualized part of the Artillery, provides a better way to understand the role that the Coast Artillery has had in the coastal defense. To achieve that, it is characterized its organization, the weapons and systems that make part of the Coast Artillery, as well as the kind of threats it faces. In order to achieve the goal of this work, we have anal yzed the evolution of the Cost Artillery materials’, as well as the periods in which it had more dominance in the defense of the coast.
