Este trabalho enfatiza duma forma geral os acontecimentos que se deram em Moçambique, desde a independência (1975) até à realização das primeiras eleições (1994), e em particular, procura-se descrever e identificar os aspectos-chave que contribuíram decisivamente para a realização duma operação tão bem sucedida. As Nações Unidas têm desde a sua fundação, apostado na formação dos Estados em conflito ou atormentados pela guerra, para garantir a paz, estabilidade por meio da resolução de conflitos. A operação de manutenção de Paz efectuada pelas Nações Unidas em Moçambique, foi marcada pelo envio de militares e observadores, e por um apoio visível dos Estados membros que dela fazem parte, os quais procuraram por várias formas persuadir as partes a chegarem a um consenso, sobre a ideia de que a democracia era a melhor forma para resolver os seus problemas. Mas para se chegar a ela, tinham que se assinar e respeitar várias cláusulas como instrumento mais nobre para garantir a segurança das partes durante todo o processo de paz. É de referir que tais cláusulas serviriam também como guião para actuação das forças internacionais, de forma a optimizarem o clima necessário para criarem um ambiente de confiança, o que acima de tudo exigiu das Nações Unidas o uso da Imparcialidade.

Abstract This work, generally, emphasizes the whole episode that took place in Mozambique, since the independence year (1975) until the attainment of the first election (1994). In particularly, we try to describe and draw out the topics, the major details that gave impulsion for the success of this operation in Mozambique. The United Nations have steadily aim their objectives in the formation of conflicts States or States victimized by the War, to guarantee the Peace, and harmony through resolution of the conflict. The peace-keeping operation in Mozambique, was obviously marked by the deployment of military personnel and observers, and by the visible aid of the Member-States who is part of the Organization, and this member States tried to persuade the parts in conflict to reach at any agreement based in a mutual consent that democracy is the ideal way to let them solve their problems. But to get to democracy they had to sign a lot of documents during theirs summit with the International Organization as the assurance to make the parts believe that they were under security during the peace process. The same agreements signed by the parts was the main instrument that the United Nation used to make their mandate, and try to be fare and play the role of an Impartial Organization.
