Este Trabalho de Investigação Aplicada na área dos Novos Sistemas de Armas da Cavalaria Conceito de Emprego do Grupo de Autometralhadoras tem como objetivo encontrar a doutrina mais adequada para o Grupo de Autometralhadoras analisando a organização onde o Grupo de Autometralhadoras está inserido. Para esta investigação estudamos adoutrina da Stryker Brigade Combat Team do Exército dos Estados Unidos da América existente relativa ao emprego das viaturas da Mobile Gun System 1. Analisámos ainda a Brigada de Intervenção e a Brigada Mecanizada, de modo a comparar as suas missões e sistemas de armas. Efetuamos também entrevistas a Oficiais portugueses que desempenham funções na BrigInt de modo a explorar o tema. Desta análise da doutrina e dos Quadros Orgânicos retiramos algumas conclusões, sendo a mais importante o facto de podermos “retirar doutrina” a partir do emprego do Grupo de Carros de Combate da Brigada Mecanizada.

Abstract This research study under the field of the new Weapon System in the Cavalry “Concept of Employment – Mobile Gun System Squadron” aims to find the doctrine more appropriate to the Mobile Gun System Squadron, analyzing the organization where the Mobile Gun System Squadron is inserted. For this investigation we studied the Stryker Brigade Combat Team and the existing doctrine regarding the use of Mobile Gun System. We also analyzed the Intervention Brigade and Mecanized Brigade and in order to compare their missions and weapons systems. We have carried out further interviews with Portuguese officials who perform functions on Intervention Brigade in order to explore the subject. This review of doctrine and the struture of the Units in study, gave us some conclusions, being the most important the fact that we can take out doctrine about the way of employment of this Weapon System from the employment of the Armored Batallion from the Mecanized Brigade.
