Portugal, enquanto membro da OTAN, possui, no sistema internacional, exigências que carecem da sua participação, em missões, fora do território nacional. Neste âmbito, o Exército Português prepara, de acordo com o quadro de forças que disponibiliza à OTAN, Unidades para se constituírem como Forças Nacionais Destacadas, com o intuito de cumprir um vasto leque de missões. No que concerne ao teatro de operações do Kosovo, tem sido hábito efectuarmos o treino e a projecção de Unidades, tendo em vista o cumprimento da missão de Reserva Táctica do Comando da Kosovo Force. O presente trabalho encontra-se subordinado ao tema: “O treino do Pelotão de Atiradores Mecanizado de um Batalhão de Infantaria Mecanizado (PRT), a fim de ser empregue no cumprimento da actual missão atribuída a Portugal no Teatro de Operações do Kosovo.” O objectivo desta investigação é a apresentação de um plano de treino, assim como o respectivo período de tempo, a aplicar a um Pelotão de Atiradores Mecanizado, que contemple bons níveis de proficiência, em tarefas inerentes à actual missão de Portugal do Kosovo. O método científico aplicado na elaboração desta investigação é baseado no “Manual de Investigação em Ciências Sociais” de Raymond Quivy e Luc Van Campenhoudt. O esquema proposto pelos autores foi devidamente adaptado à nossa investigação, no âmbito da táctica. A recolha de informação surgiu da análise documental, bem como de um conjunto de entrevistas com alguns intervenientes no planeamento, execução e avaliação do treino no 1º Batalhão de Infantaria Mecanizado. Posteriormente, interceptámos toda a informação e elaborámos um plano de treino a aplicar a um Pelotão de Atiradores Mecanizado. Os resultados espelharam que a aplicação de um plano de treino, que garanta um bom nível de proficiência, além de contemplar tarefas inerentes a todo o espectro das operações, exige um período substancialmente superior ao fornecido pelo escalão superior.

Abstract Portugal, while a NATO member, owns, on the International framework, demands which lack in its participation, on missions, abroad. In this scope, the Portuguese Army prepares, according to the Forces staffer which is provided to NATO, Units to be settled as “Deployed National Forces”, aiming to accomplish a wide range of missions. Concerning the Kosovo theatre, it has been custom to carry out a training and Units’ projection, bearing in mind the accomplishment of the Kosovo’s Force Command Tactical Reserve mission. The present study is subordinated to the theme “A Mechanized Rifle Platoon’s, of a Mechanized Infantry Battalion, training in order to be employed in the accomplishment of the current mission given to Portugal in the Kosovo’s theatre. The aim of this investigation is the presentation of a training plan, as well as its correspondent period of time, to be applied to a Mechanized Rifle Platoon, which includes a wide extent of proficiency on tasks inherent to the Portugal’s current mission in Kosovo. The scientific method used on the formulation of this investigation is based upon the “Social Sciences’ research guide” by Raymond Quivy and Luc Van Campenhoudt. The schematic proposed by the authors was properly adapted to our investigation on the tactics scope. The gathering of information emerged from the document analysis, as well as from a set of interviews with some intervenients in the planning, execution and evaluation of the training on the 1 st Mechanized Infantry Battalion. Afterwards, we intercepted all the information and we came up with a training plan to be applied to a Mechanized Rifle Platoon. The results mirrored that the application of a training plan, which ensures a wide extent of proficiency, besides containing tasks inherent to all the operations spectrum, also demands a period of time substantially superior than the one given by a superior echelon.
